What Are Raidable Bases?
Raidable Bases are NPC-defended structures that spawn randomly on the map. Unlike player bases, these are meant to be raided — they’re filled with armed NPCs guarding loot. Think of them as open-world dungeons.
You can’t just stumble across one though. You need Base Intel to locate them.
Getting Intel
Base Intel is a rare item that drops from:
- NPCs and scientists (low drop rate)
- Event loot (Cargo Ship, Oil Rig, etc.)
- Achievement rewards and clue scroll completions
Intel cannot be bought from the Mithril shop. You have to earn it.
Deciphering Intel
When you find Base Intel, it’s encrypted. Before you can use it, you need to decipher it in one of two ways:
- Visit a Trader (at Bandit Camp or the Floating City) — Pay scrap or resources for an instant decipher
- Decipher it yourself — A skill you unlock through quests or achievements. Free to use once learned.
Finding the Base
Deciphered intel doesn’t give you exact coordinates. Instead, you get a general area description like:
“Reinforced structure detected near the eastern coastline, between the river mouth and the lighthouse”
Then you use your Intel Scanner to narrow it down. As you walk around, it gives you hot/cold feedback:
[Intel Scanner: Cold...][Intel Scanner: Warm...][Intel Scanner: HOT!][Intel Scanner: BURNING!]
Base Tiers
| Tier | Intel Needed | Entry Fee | Difficulty | What’s Inside |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Scout | 1 Intel | Free | Easy — few NPCs, wood/stone walls | Components, basic resources |
| Fortified | 3 Intel | 25 Mithril | Medium — geared NPCs, sheet metal | Weapons, armor, unarmed explosives |
| Compound | 5 Intel | 50 Mithril | Hard — heavy NPCs, armored walls | Rare loot, multiple unarmed explosives |
PvP Hotspots
Raidable Bases create some of the best organic PvP on the server:
- Other players can see you walking around with your scanner out, and they know what you’re doing
- Anyone can contest the base while you’re clearing it — be ready for a fight
- The loot inside (especially unarmed explosives) makes you a high-value target on the way home
- Base locations shift every time, so PvP hotspots move across the map naturally
